Bryant Kimbrell, a graduated senior for the Pinecrest baseball team, is Athlete of the Week. Kimbrell won Athlete of the Week after the Patriots got off to a 4-0 start to the season. Neither he nor Pinecrest slowed down after that burst out of the gate. The Patriots finished with a 24-5 record and won the Sandhills with an 11-1 league record. Athlete of the Week: Wesley Little

Pinecrest boys’ lacrosse junior Wesley Little is the Athlete of the Week. The three-time conference champions have won 28 straight games in the United 8/All American/Sandhills Conference, including a 10-0 mark in the league this year. Little, the Patriots’ goalkeeper, led the conference in goals-against average and save percentage. He also finished second in the state in save percentage and sixth in goals against average. That earned him all-state and all-region honorable mentions, as well as a spot on the all-conference first team. He was also voted the team’s defensive MVP.

Athlete of the Week: Bohdi Robertson

Pinecrest baseball’s Bohdi Robertson is our Athlete of the Week. Robertson is a sophomore for the Pinecrest baseball team. Robertson got the ball for the Patriots’ playoff opener, against Green Hope, and threw a complete game shutout for the 5-0 win. Robertson struck out eight in the 92-pitch gem and allowed just two hits and a walk. For the year, Robertson is 9-1 in 12 games and has 67 strikeouts in 46 innings while allowing less than a baserunner an inning and sporting an 0.90 ERA.

Athlete of the Week: Pinecrest lacrosse’s Peyton Page

Peyton Page, a senior for the Pinecrest girls’ lacrosse team, is our Athlete of the Week. The Patriots head to the playoffs on a seven-game unbeaten streak after beating Jack Britt, 20-6 to close the regular season. Page had four goals in the win, tying for tops on the Patriots. For the season, she is second on Pinecrest in goals, assists and points. She’s also third in turnovers forced and second in ground balls.

Allie Hirst is a senior for the Pinecrest girls’ lacrosse team. The Patriots are 11-3-1, 5-2 in the Sandhills Conference and riding a three-game winning streak and five-game unbeaten streak, including a pair of victories last week. Hirst came up big in both games. In a 12-10 win over Wakefield, Hirst scored five goals and added another four assists. Athlete of the Week: Mason Konen

Pinecrest baseball’s Mason Konen is the Athlete of the Week. The 6-foot-3 righthanded senior is perhaps best known for football, where he has thrown for 2,750 yards and 19 touchdowns over the last two seasons as the Patriots’ quarterback. Konen stood out on the mound last week, however, going the distance in a 9-0 win over Northwood. In the complete game win, Konen threw a no-hitter for Pincecrest. He retired 21 of the 25 batters he faced, striking out one. The only batters to reach base were three walks and a hit batter.

Stabbing at Moore County high school leaves female student in stable condition

RALEIGH — A female student at Pinecrest High School in the Moore County Public Schools district is in stable condition after being stabbed on campus on the morning of April 28. Moore County Public Schools’ initial press statement said that “a serious assault incident occurred at Pinecrest High School prior to the start of the school day.” The statement said multiple agencies responded to the incident, including EMS, and that a suspect was in custody and the victim is being treated. “All students and staff are safe and accounted for. Moore County Schools principal transferred

CARTHAGE — A Moore County Public Schools (MCS) principal has been transferred to another school. According to a press release by MCS, Crain’s Creek Middle School Principal Melonie Jones had requested to be transferred to Pinecrest High School. She will be in the Assistant Principal position at Pinecrest, where she started her education career in the late 90s.  “I feel honored and humbled to have been the principal at Crain’s Creek Middle School for the last five years, and I will be forever grateful for the relationships that I have built with the students, staff, parents, and community,” Jones said…
