Athlete of the Week: Bohdi Robertson

Pinecrest baseball’s Bohdi Robertson is our Athlete of the Week. Robertson is a sophomore for the Pinecrest baseball team. Robertson got the ball for the Patriots’ playoff opener, against Green Hope, and threw a complete game shutout for the 5-0 win. Robertson struck out eight in the 92-pitch gem and allowed just two hits and a walk. For the year, Robertson is 9-1 in 12 games and has 67 strikeouts in 46 innings while allowing less than a baserunner an inning and sporting an 0.90 ERA.

Athlete of the Week: Maddy Telemeco

Maddy Telemeco is a junior for the Union Pines girls’ lacrosse team. The top-ranked Vikings blew out Havelock, 27-0, in their second-round game in the NCHSAA playoffs. Telemeco led the way for Union Pines with 10 points in the game. She scored four goals and added six assists. She also added four ground balls and controlled six draws. Telemeco leads Union Pines in assists and shot percentage. She’s second in turnovers caused and total points and ranks third on the team in goals.

Athlete of the Week: Pinecrest lacrosse’s Peyton Page

Peyton Page, a senior for the Pinecrest girls’ lacrosse team, is our Athlete of the Week. The Patriots head to the playoffs on a seven-game unbeaten streak after beating Jack Britt, 20-6 to close the regular season. Page had four goals in the win, tying for tops on the Patriots. For the season, she is second on Pinecrest in goals, assists and points. She’s also third in turnovers forced and second in ground balls.

Athlete of the Week: Allie Hirst

Allie Hirst is a senior for the Pinecrest girls’ lacrosse team. The Patriots are 11-3-1, 5-2 in the Sandhills Conference and riding a three-game winning streak and five-game unbeaten streak, including a pair of victories last week. Hirst came up big in both games. In a 12-10 win over Wakefield, Hirst scored five goals and added another four assists. Two days later, in an 18-4 win at Terry Sanford, she did it again, scoring another five goals and assisting on another four. On the season, Hirst leads Pinecrest in goals, assists and ground balls. Athlete of the Week: Mason Konen

Sportsathlete of the week, Mason Konen, Pinecrest, Pinecrest High school

Pinecrest baseball’s Mason Konen is the Athlete of the Week. The 6-foot-3 righthanded senior is perhaps best known for football, where he has thrown for 2,750 yards and 19 touchdowns over the last two seasons as the Patriots’ quarterback. Konen stood out on the mound last week, however, going the distance in a 9-0 win over Northwood. In the complete game win, Konen threw a no-hitter for Pincecrest. He retired 21 of the 25 batters he faced, striking out one. The only batters to reach base were three walks and a hit batter.

Athlete of the Week: Connor Tepatti

Sportsathlete of the week

Connor Tepatti is a senior for the Pinecrest baseball team. He played a role in both of the Patriots’ wins last week. Tepatti threw four scoreless innings in a win over East Bladen and helped his cause at the plate by going 1-for-2 with 2 runs scored. He also went 2-for-4 in Pinecrest’s win over Heritage. Tepatti leads Pinecrest in batting average, on-base percentage, runs, hits, doubles and slugging.

Athlete of the Week: Natalie Auman

Sportsathlete of the week

Natalie Auman is a senior for the Union Pines softball team. She was also the top three-point shooter on the Vikings’ girls’ basketball team in the winter. Union Pines split two games last week, and Auman had big games in both outings. In a win over Greenbrier East, she went 4-for-5 with 2 runs scored and 3 driven in while adding a double and a stolen base. Against James Madison, she went 3-for-3 with 3 runs scored and a pair of steals.

Athlete of the Week: Grace Queen

Grace Queen is a junior striker and midfielder for the Union Pines girls’ soccer team. The Vikings won both games last week, and Queen had a couple of huge games. Against Scotland, she scored four goals in five shots to lead a 12-0 shutout. Against Terry Sanford, she added another two goals, as well as an assist, in a 8-0 win. Queen is now second on the team in goals and leads in shots.

ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Nicole Norman

Sportsathlete of the week

Nicole Norman is a senior catcher and outfielder for the Union Pines softball team. The Vikings are 5-1 on the year and went 1-1 last week. Norman, who will be playing in college at Barton next season, leads Union Pines in batting, on-base percentage, slugging and hits. She’s tied for the lead in homers and doubles and is second on the Vikings in RBIs. Last week, she went 2-for-3 with a run, 2 doubles and 2 RBIs in a win over Richmond.

ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: RJ Sales

Pinecrest, baseball RJ Sales is an alum of the Pinecrest baseball team who is currently pitching for UNC Wilmington. Sales led Pinecrest to a Sandhills Conference title in his senior season of 2021, winning conference player of the year honors. Now a redshirt sophomore with the Seahawks, Sales is off to a dominating start to the season, posting a 3-0 record. In his most recent start, he struck out six in seven one-hit innings to win on the road at South Alabama. Sales has a 0.92 ERA and is has a WHIP (walks and hits per innin) of 0.56. Opponents…
